The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability ran 2019-2023. It heard from over 9,500 people and delivered 222 recommendations in its final report. Key recommendations driving current reforms: mandatory provider registration, stronger NDIS Commission powers, reformed restrictive practice authorisation, child-safe organisations, foundational supports outside NDIS, and major changes to disability employment. The 2024-2027 NDIS reforms are largely implementing these recommendations.
