The full answer
SCHADS (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award) is the modern award that sets minimum pay rates and conditions for disability support workers. It's set by the Fair Work Commission and updated annually. Key points: 1) Pay ranges from Level 1 ($34/hr, basic personal care) to Level 4+ (specialist roles), 2) Penalty rates apply for unsociable hours, weekends and public holidays, 3) Minimum standards for breaks, rostering notice and dispute resolution, 4) Superannuation must be paid (currently 11.5%), 5) Leave entitlements (annual, sick, personal carer) apply to permanent and part-time employees. Sole traders are not covered by the Award but may choose to meet it voluntarily for recruitment purposes.
