The full answer
Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) is the current NDIS early-intervention scheme for children birth to 6 years with developmental delay or disability. It funds therapy (speech, OT, physio), support coordination and early parenting support. The new Early Childhood Approach (from 2024-2026 rollout) integrates ECEI with foundational supports and builds stronger links to early childhood education (kindergarten, playgroups, early learning centres). The key change: more emphasis on everyday environments and universal supports, less emphasis on clinic-based therapy alone. ECEI participants will transition to the new Approach during plan reviews — the funding model shifts and outcomes measurement changes significantly. If you deliver ECEI services, expect your funding levels to shift and new outcome-reporting requirements.
