Today, self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose unregistered providers. About 90% of NDIS plans fall into one of these two categories. NDIA-managed participants (10%) require registered providers. The mandatory registration reform changes this in 2027 — most service types will require registration regardless of plan management type. If you're operating purely with self-managed clients today, you can continue unregistered until your service type's mandatory registration deadline.
