The full answer
Non-conformities must be closed within 90 days or registration is refused. Closing steps: 1) Understand the root cause — don't just patch the symptom, 2) Design a fix (new policy, new form, new process, new training), 3) Implement and live-test for 2-4 weeks, 4) Gather evidence of the fix — updated policy with date, staff training sign-off, sample documentation showing new process in use, 5) Write a brief submission (1 page per NC) explaining the issue, the root cause and the fix with evidence, 6) Submit to your auditor within 60 days (leave 30-day buffer before deadline). The auditor reviews and either closes the NC or requests further evidence. Common NC closure failures: only fixing the one instance (looks fake), not training staff (they revert to old way), or submitting before you've actually implemented the change. Be thorough and honest.
